Good.  Here's the thing, you'll spend a lot of time in unproductive work on your mission (tracting when nobody is home, contacting people who don't want to be bothered, etc.)...

So, when you get someone like this guy, you should dedicate most of your core energy toward helping him out.  I have learned as a CPA that often I'll work on lots of projects for clients that don't appreciate what I do, they need me but they only pay begrudgingly.  The alternative is to spend my best energy focused on a few clients who can pay and who want my services and then filling my leftover time with the first type of client.  The second model is infinitely better.

I think you can apply the same thing to your missionary work.  I'm sure you've figured that out.  If I were you, I'd dedicate extra time preparing lessons, presentations, discussions, preparations for the baptism, etc. Then when you are actually together with his family you will shine.  You should be absolutely prepared EVERY time you meet with him.  In this way, he will know that you love him but also that you appreciate the effort he is making to change his life and you are rewarding his effort with being prepared.  The spirit will testify more powerfully, and your joy will be more full as a result.

I'm very proud of you.  Very, very.

Love you,

Dad

Well this last week was very interesting. It started off with a very
fun p-day with some of the other elders in our zone. Today will also
be an elders p-day.. But we worked normally through the week, and then
on Friday had a district meeting. We centered the district meeting on
using time wisely and accountability. We had some super fun trainings
from the sisters and learned a lot. On Sunday we were able to eat with
a very friendly family. Got to know their family better and their kids
are adorable. Nothing really important this week happened. Hope all is
well at home and hope the cruise went smooth! Much love
